Alvin and the Chipmunks in "Eastwood Academy" PART FIVE

Jeanette stepped one foot out from the tub and onto the light, pink shag rug feeling especially sensual and lady like. She dried off her tanning, smooth leg and pulled the other out. She twisted her toes into the soft rug, relishing in the feel of each individual fuchsia thread.  She adored this house and the old nineties fixures; the golden marble counter tops, the light oak cabinets with their shining, gold knobs. Although the boys lacked the funds to keep the house fashionably updated, David held a high demand for them to always the keep everything nice and in order. Although they were poor, they were not dirty - at least not the guest room.

She rubbed a small circle into the perspiration on the mirror and gazed at her blurry image. She posed and studied herself and thought what she looked like to Simon last night, poised up on the bed with the glow of the street lamps outside striped across her body. She twisted her hair up in a towel and dressed in her dirty, old work uniform. "I've got to get home at least for a fresh set of clothes," she said to herself with dying self-confidence. She opened the bathroom door and let out a rolling cloud of steam. Her glasses fogged up and sweat collected on her brow. It was going to be a very hot, summer day.

Jeanette shyly descended the stairs and into the living room where Simon was seated infront of an oscillating fan. The long, black velvet couch sat against the family room window. The maroon drapes had been pulled back and the windows were pushed out and open letting in the sweet, early summer morning sounds of sprinklers and lawn mowers. She joined Simon, being careful not to sit too close.

"Feeling better?"Simon inquired, his untidy tufts of light hair flew about with the wind of the fan in his face. He changed channels several times until he was satisfied.

"Much better," Jeanette replied, rolling up the legs of her heavy work pants to cool down her legs, "but I'd love to get out of these work clothes. I'm thinking about running home to change and see my sisters."

"I'll go with you," Simon answered quickly, setting the remote down and slipping his feet into a near-by pair of flip-flops.

"No, that won't be necessary," she retorted simply with a light smile, "you ought to hang around here for a bit and cool off. Maybe you can get the AC to work," she added thoughtfully, referring to their current issue with the air conditioning unit, "you know my house is a sauna. I think Eleanor's losing weight just from sweating."

"If you suppose," Simon shrugged and brought his bare feet back ontop of the glass table, "I guess I could get some work done and see how Dave's blind date went last night."

"David went on a BLIND date?" Jeanette asked suddenly, standing from her seat on the couch. She David had been feeling especially helpless lately. He had managed to find a mediocre job selling insurance to senior citizens, but it wasn't what he was used to, and it wasn't exactly a truthful business.

"Yes, I encourage it. He needs to get out," Simon went on, turning the fan to a higher level.

"Well, I'll be on my way then. I'll text you in a bit," Jeanette glanced quickly around the house for any secret observers, leaned down and caught Simon by surprise with a deep kiss and hurried out the front door. Simon sat staring at the television in a heated daze.

Alvin unbuttoned his short sleeved, red plaid shirt and let the late morning sun shine down. He felt alive in his element; radiant and youthful - and yet sluggish with a headache and slightly upset stomach. He strolled through the backyard with bare feet. He picked up the garden hose, crusted with dry mud and twisted the webbed, metal knob to turn the water on. He twisted his ball cap backward and carried on towards the front of the house with water shooting up towards the sky before him. He delighted in making a grand entrance to the day. He strut with his shirt open in the front yard and winked at as a woman casually jogged by, earphones in her ears. He watered the grass and the decorations of bright red and yellow flowers in the garden - his garden.

Jeanette passed before him light-footedly, hoping to be unnoticed.

"Goodmorning, Jeanette!" Alvin shouted energetically across the front yard, "sleep well?"

Jeanette blushed, "yes, thankyou," and hurried along the sidewalk towards her house down the road.

Alvin grinned with contemplation. If what he thought happened had actually happened, his brother would never be able to live it down. He sprayed down the bushes for the heck of it and started towards the backyard once more. Turning off the water, he glanced to the left over the low, white picket fence where he could see past several back yards and right into the Miller's. The sound of an obnoxiously loud car engine had caught his nosy and undivided attention. A dark blue, brand new Mustang rolled slowly down the alley and halted behind the Miller residence. Alvin set the hose down and tip toed to the back of the garage. He slid his fingers across the peeling, white paint, and peeked down the alley at the following scene.

Brittney dashed out from the back door of the Miller house and hurried through the over grown grass to the back gate where the car was purring idly. She glanced over her shoulder and down the alley. Alvin shuffled back and then peeked out again. The car stopped and a familiar individual stepped out from the driver's seat; Jason Little. He graduated near top of the class sheerly from cheating and copying and holding the favor of the instructors. He was the captain of as many sports teams as he could conquer and he was Brittney's boyfriend.

Brittney, still dressed in very short pajama shorts and a neon pink tank top, delayed from stepping too near the boy. She was hesitant and unsure. Alvin peeked a little closer. He was shocked to see her acting so unusual.

"I don't have it," she said simply, staring down at her bare toes, avoiding eye contact.

"Don't have what?" Alvin wondered outloud quietly.

"Do you know what's going to happen to me?" Jason inquired with anger brimming in his tones, "and don't tell me you LOST it, Brittney," his words were becoming clearer to Alvin down the alley as his voice was rising. He slammed the car door shut.

"I didn't lose it, Jason," Brittney retorted, taking a step backward, "someone stole it."

"I don't believe you!" Jason walked haughtily around the front of his car in Brittney's direction. She receded toward the back gate in fear, "move!" he shouted fiercely and grabbed her forearm, pushing her to the side. Alvin ran around the side of the garage, heart racing. "What's was going on?"

Brittney chased after him through the back yard as he made way for the door, "my sisters are home, please!" she shouted, grasping his left wrist. Tears were pooling from her eyes. Jason raised his wrist and then his hand.

Without a second thought - no - without any thought Alvin hopped over the fence, "don't you raise a finger to her!" he shouted, hopping a second fence. Brittney gazed up with sunlight in her tears. Jason advanced towards Alvin with beat-red eyes bulging out of his square head, "I can't believe you're talking to Brittney this way!" Alvin went on meeting chest to chest with him.

"Who do you think you are?" Jason inquired wildly, staring down into two, heroic blue eyes. Alvin was indeed much shorter and by no means as muscular, but his pride and his confidence could out-do anyone's.

"Who do you think YOU are?" Alvin shouted back with his fists clenched.

"Alvin, please, stay out of it," Brittney pleaded dismally.

Alvin had never seen her so pitiful and prideless before. He stepped down from his stance and stared Jason down, "just go. You don't belong here."

As if the heavens had blessed Alvin with luck and good fortune, Jason too backed away and sped off in his loud, little car. Alvin watched Jason closely until the car disappeared from their neighborhood in silence, then turned to Brittney.

"What's going on?" he inquired with the heat of the sun on his back.

Brittney, without saying anything, broke into a fit of tears and collapsed into his arms. His tense shoulders loosened easily and he sighed as he could feel the warm tears on the skin of his shoulder. He put a hand in her light, messy hair and an arm around her back and the two stood silently in the grass with bees buzzing at their feet for nearly five minutes.

"I'm sorry, Alvin," Brittney gasped for air and buried her forehead into light fabric of his shirt , "I'm sorry."

"What are you sorry about?" he asked beginning to feel even unsure of himself. He had just stepped between a very strong young man and a girl he cared very much for. Brittney had always been important to him and he would aid in her in any trepidation, but he was feeling soft just then, just then with her loose hair in his hands.

"I can't talk about it right now," she answered, shaking, "thankyou for ... for scaring him away," she stepped aside and wiped her face, wet with tiny tear drops.

"I don't think I SCARED him," Alvin replied with a smirk, "he scared the hell out of me. I didn't know Jason Little was capable of being so threatening."

"Well, he is," Brittney gasped for another gulp of air between sobs, "I have a lot to tell you, Alvin ... why don't you come inside."

TBC
Ah, a little Brittney/Alvin fluff on the way as you can see. As always, criticism is appreciated. I personally don't think this part was as good as my first four, but it is about 12:45am and, well, I was feeling obligated.
